VALLEY SPORTS REPORT: TIOGA'S ROSSI HEADLINES SUPER 7 AS 'GIRLS ATHLETE OF THE SPRING' (June 23, 2026)

THE VALLEY — Tioga sophomore Vida Rossi won a pair of state medals, and set a pair of new school records in the process. She is the 2026 Valley Sports Report All-Valley "Girls Athlete of the Spring."

Rossi consistently earned points in the 100-meter dash and long jump for the Tigers this season, and ran anchor on a 400-meter relay that also picked up a lot of points.

Rossi won a bronze medal in the 100-meter dash at States with a time of 12.34 seconds — just off her school-record time of 12.31, which she recorded in a second-place finish at the Section IV State Qualifier.

Rossi won a sixth-place medal at States in the long jump with a school-record leap of 18-feet, 8 3/4-inches.

Rossi won the Section IV State Qualifier with a leap of 17-feet, 7 3/4-inches.

At the IAC Championships, Rossi won the 100-meter dash (12.61 seconds), and the long jump (17-feet, 1 3/4-inches). She also ran the anchor leg on the 400-meter relay that won gold in a time of 52.39 seconds.

RaeAnne Feeko, senior, Tioga softball: Feeko is an excellent defender at shortstop, runs the bases exceptionally well, and does all the little things right, while wielding a devastating bat.

Feeko hit .600 (39 hits in 65 ABs) with 12 base on balls for .671 on-base percentage. She also posted 1.169 slugging percentage, and an OPS of 1.840.

Eighteen of Feeko's 39 hits were for extra-bases. She recorded eight doubles, one triple, and nine home runs, to go along with 37 RBI, 39 runs scored. She was also 19-for-19 on stolen bases.

Taylin Gonzalez, freshman, Waverly: Gonzalez hit .615 (40 hits in 65 ABs) with eight doubles, seven home runs, 36 RBI, and 31 runs scored. She also had 13 base on balls, and a .684 on-base percentage.

In the circle, Gonzalez posted a 10-6 record with a 2.77 ERA. She struck out 133 and walked 73 in 108 2/3 innings pitched, while allowing 94 hits.

Kate Kithcart, freshman, Tioga: Kithcart hit .579 (44 hits in 76 at-bats) .829 slugging percentage for a 1.419 OPS. She had six doubles, two triples, and three home runs with 35 RBI, 26 runs scored, and was 8-for-8 in stolen bases.  She struck out just twice.

In the circle, Kithcart was 10-6 with a 3.66 ERA. She struck out 100 and walked just 12 in 99 1/3 innings.

Abby Burgess, senior, Athens: A consistent points-winner during the season for the Wildcats, Burgess finished second at the District 4 Championships in 12.4 seconds, beating the state standard by 0.1 seconds to qualify for States. She finished second in the 200-meter dash in 26.21 seconds — missing the state standard by 0.8 seconds.

A three-time state qualifier, Burgess won the 400-meter dash (1:03.06), and finished second in the 100 (12.49 seconds), and 200-meter dashes (25.6). She also ran anchor on the 400-meter relay that finished third at the NTL Championships.

Kaylin Twedt, sophomore, Waverly: Twedt won a Section IV, Class B gold in the 400-meter dash in 58.71 seconds. At States, Twedt finished 13th in the 400 in 59.51 seconds.

She also ran on the 400-, and 1,600-meter relay teams that finished second at the State Qualifier.

Twedt won the 400-meter dash at STACs, and also ran the anchor on the 1,600-meter relay that finished second, and 400-meter relay that finished fourth.

Brilynn Belles, senior, Waverly: A two-year starter at QB, Belles led Waverly to a 12-4 record and its first trip to the Section IV, Class C finals.

Belles completed 60 percent (198 of 330 of her passes for 1,951 yards, and a school-record 33 TDs, with nine interceptions.

She also rushed for 187 yards and a team-high eight TDs on 44 carries.
