DISTRICT 6 LITTLE LEAGUE (MINORS): WAVERLY RIDES EARLY RUNS TO 20-10 WIN OVER BATH (June 23, 2026)

BATH — Waverly raced out to a big lead early, and cruised to a 20-10 win over Bath here Tuesday evening in pool play action in the District 6 Little League Minors Division baseball playoffs.

Waverly, playing as the home team, scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 6-1 lead, and poured eight runs across the plate in the second inning to extend its lead to 14-2.

Bath closed the gap to 14-9 after 3 1/2 innings, but Waverly scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth, and tacked on three more in the fifth inning.

Ethan Gray-Wright doubled and singled, scored one run, and had six RBI and Henry Cheresnowsky homered and doubled, scored two runs and drove in three runs to pace Waverly's 15-hit attack, while Nate Eck was 3-for-3 with  three runs scored, and Ryder Wolcott doubled and singled, scored three runs, and knocked in one run.

Easton Mathews singled twice, scored three runs, and knocked in one run in the win, while Marcel Phillips singled twice and scored two runs, Keatley DeKay singled, scored two runs, and had two RBI, and Leevi Sharpsteen singled, scored one run, and drove in one run.

Samson Reznicek crossed the plate twice for Waverly, and Kelen Roskow scored one run.

Waverly, now 2-1 in pool play, returns to action Thursday when it hosts Horseheads.
