DISTRICT 15 LITTLE LEAGUE: SAYRE EVENS RECORD IN POOL PLAY WITH 10-4 WIN OVER CANTON (June 24, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportSAYRE — Sayre bounced back from a loss to Towanda with a 10-4 win over Canton, and is 1-1 in play in the District 15 Little League Majors Division baseball pool play action.
Sayre 10, Canton 4On Tuesday, Sayre jumped ahead early on its way to a 10-4 win over Canton.
Sayre scored four runs in the top of the first inning, then added three more in the top of the second to take a 7-2 lead.
Sayre stretched its lead to 10-2 after 5 1/2 innings, and Canton scored twice in its final at-bat.
Connor Kmetz was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, and three RBI to pace Sayre's 10-hit attack, while Kyle Ball singled twice, scored one run, and drove in one run, and Colton Nasoni tripled, scored two runs, and knocked in one run.
Attilio Agnellino singled, scored one run, and drove in one run in the win, while Wesley Szollosy singled and knocked in two runs, Finn Heffron singled and scored one run, and Brendan Gilson added a single.
Razier VanHousen, Xander Parrish, and Beckett Blythe each scored one run for Sayre, and Andrew Howey had one RBI.
VanHousen earned the win for Sayre, allowing four runs on two hits, while striking out nine and walking three in 5 1/3 innings of work.
Szollosy struck out two of the three batters he faced to close out the game.
Sayre, 1-1 in pool play, returns to action Wednesday at Athens.
Towanda 12, Sayre 1On Saturday, Towanda scored seven unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning and cruised to a 12-1 four-inning win over Sayre in the opening game of pool play.
Wesley Szollosy singled for Sayre's only hit, and Razier VanHousen scored one run.
