ATHENS — Carly Bishop tossed a 3-hitter to lead Athens to a 2-1 win over Canton here Wednesday evening in the semifinals of bracket play in the District 15 Little League softball Minors Division playoffs.

Athens took an early lead with a run in the bottom of the first inning, and extended its lead to 2-0 with a run in the fourth inning.

Canton's lone run came on a wild pitch in the top of the sixth inning.

Athens shortstop Roselina Meyers turned two unassisted double plays — both on line drives, where she beat the base runner to second base for the out — to end innings in the win.

The first came with a runner on second in the first inning, and the second with runners on first and second in the fourth inning.

Bishop fanned nine and walked one, while allowing one unearned run in six innings to earn the win.

Breah Wilcox and Jaelyn Ashby each singled and scored one run, while Bishop and Sophia Barrett each added a single to account for Athens' four hits.

Morgan Robinson had an RBI in the win.

Athens square off with Towanda Friday at Towanda in the winner's bracket finals.
