ATHENS UNBEATEN IN JV PLAYValley Sports ReportATHENS — Athens earned a pair of wins, while Waverly and Tioga both dropped two decisions in the Varsity Division of the Waverly Summer Basketball League, which was played at the Athens Area High School and Lynch Elementary gymnasiums.
Athens topped Wyalusing 54-36, then edged Waverly, 44-39, while Waverly also dropped a 52-46 decision to Troy.
Tioga dropped a hard-fought, 48-42, decision to Wellsboro, then lost 75-21 to unbeaten Elmira.
Elmira sits atop the standings at 6-0, with Troy at 5-0, and Towanda and Wellsboro each at 5-1.
Athens is 4-2, with Waverly 3-3, and Tioga at 0-6.
JUNIOR VARSITYAthens notched a pair of wins, while Waverly was 1-1, and Tioga dropped two decisions.
Athens topped Wyalusing, 42-33, and Waverly, 47-31, while Waverly topped Troy, 52-43.
Tioga lost 49-39 to Sullivan County, and dropped a 50-31 decisions to Elmira.
Athens and Elmira sit atop the standings at 6-0, while Waverly and Edison are 4-2. Tioga is 0-6.
