Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY — Waverly freshman Taylin Gonzalez had a standout 2026 season at the plate and in the pitcher's circle, and has been recognized by the New York State Sportswriters' Association as a second-team all-state selection in Class A.
"We are so proud of Taylin," said Waverly coach Brent Doane.
"She really works hard at the game of softball," noted Doane. "She is developing into an outstanding softball player, but is an even better person.
"She is a lot of fun to coach because of her great potential and she is fun to be around," said Doane.
"She takes it seriously, though. She really takes it to heart when she does not perform to expectations," added Doane. "We are very proud her achievement and the sky is the limit."
Gonzalez hit .615 (40 hits in 65 ABs) with eight doubles, seven home runs, 36 RBI, and 31 runs scored. She also had 13 base on balls, and a .684 on-base percentage.
In the circle, Gonzalez posted a 10-6 record with a 2.77 ERA. She struck out 133 and walked 73 in 108 2/3 innings pitched, while allowing 94 hits.
