ELMIRA — Waverly clawed back from big deficits twice, only to drop a 15-13 decision to Elmira-Elmira Heights here Monday evening in District 6 Little League Baseball Majors Division pool play action.

Waverly scored two runs in the top of the third inning to cut Elmira-Elmira Heights' lead to 3-2, but E-EH answered with six runs in the home half of the inning.

Waverly countered with four runs in the top of the fourth, and two more in the fifth to cut the deficit to 9-8, but E-EH had the answer again, this time with six runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Waverly responded with five runs in the top of the sixth inning, and had the tying run on second base when the final out was recorded.

Brody Payne had three hits, including a pair of doubles, scored one run, and had two RBI to pace Waverly's nine-hit attack, while Isaac Roy singled twice, scored two runs, and drove in one run, and Jackson Mosier doubled, scored two runs, and drove in two runs.

Beau Bauman singled, scored one run, and drove in two runs for Waverly, while Robert Henderson singled and knocked in one run, Asher Reznicek singled and scored one run, Dallas Harbst scored three runs, Easton Beach scored two runs, and Lucas Wolcott crossed the plate once.

Waverly, now 0-4 in pool play, finishes off pool play Wednesday at Bath in a 7:30 p.m. start.
