DISTRICT 6 LITTLE LEAGUE (MINORS): WAVERLY TOPS BIG FLATS, 10-6, IN OPENING GAME OF BRACKET PLAY (24 PHOTOS) (June 30, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY — Waverly took the lead for good in the bottom of the second inning on its way to a 10-6 win over Big Flats here Tuesday evening in the opening round of bracket play in the District 6 Little League Minors Division baseball playoffs.
Waverly scored a run in the home half of the second to take a 3-2 lead, then scored four runs in the third inning to extend the lead to 7-2.
After both teams scored two runs in the fourth inning, Waverly added a run in the fifth to take a 10-4 advantage into the sixth inning.
Nate Eck doubled twice, scored two runs, and drove in two runs, and Ryder Wolcott tripled and singled, scored one run, and drove in one run to pace Waverly's nine-hit attack.
Henry Cheresnowsky singled and scored three runs in the win, while Ryker Roberts and Ethan Gray-Wright each singled and drove in one run, and Marcel Phillips and Keatley DeKay each singled and scored one run.
Kelen Roskow and Samson Reznicek each scored a run for Waverly.
Phillips and Wolcott each pitched 1 2/3 innings and struck out five, while Gray-Wright fanned four in two innings, and Roberts recorded the last two outs.
Waverly will face top-seeded Corning-Painted Post Wednesday in the semifinals.
