DISTRICT 15 LITTLE LEAGUE (11U): BIG FIRST INNING PROPELS ATHENS TO WIN OVER NTLL IN FIRST GAME OF CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (24 PHOTOS) (July 3, 2026)

ATHENS — Athens poured 17 runs across the plate in the bottom of the first inning, and a pair of pitchers combined on a three-inning no-hitter in a 24-0 win over Northern Tier LL here Friday evening in the first game of a best-of-three for the District 15 Little League Baseball 11U championship.

Kaleb Chambers and Mason Shores combined on the no-hitter for Athens. Chambers fanned five of the six batters he faced in two perfect innings, and Shores struck out three and walked one in a scoreless inning of relief.

Marshall Warburton singled three times, scored three runs, and drove in two runs to pace Athens' 13-hit attack, while Malachi Peterson singled twice, scored two runs, and had four RBI, and Calvin Mosher singled twice, scored two runs, and drove in three runs.

Chambers singled twice, scored two runs, and knocked in two runs in the win, while Bentley Stephens singled twice, scored two runs, and drove in one run, Maddox Kreider singled, scored three runs, and drove in two runs, and Declan Odell singled, scored two runs, and had two RBI.

Shores scored two runs and had three RBI for Athens, while Jase Blair and Gil Sharpe each scored a pair of runs, and had one RBI, and Austin Cron scored one run and drove in two runs.

Mason Woodard reached base via a base on balls for Northern Tier LL.

Athens and NTLL will square off Sunday at 4 p.m. at Riverfront Park in the second game of the best-of-three.
