DISTRICT 15 LITTLE LEAGUE (MAJORS): ATHENS FINISHES OFF IMPRESSIVE RUN TO DISTRICT TITLE WITH 16-5 WIN OVER WELLSBORO (24 PHOTOS) (July 12, 2026)

ATHENS — Athens completed an absolutely dominating run through the consolation bracket by beating Wellsboro twice in a row to win the District 15 Little League Baseball Majors Division championship.

Athens, which lost in the opening round, won six straight games in the consolation bracket — outscoring its opponents, 86-13 — to win the double-elimination tournament.

Two days after a 9-2 win, Athens finished off its impressive run Sunday with a 16-5 win over Wellsboro, which went 3-0 in pool play and won the winner's bracket.

Athens, playing as the visiting team, scored a run in the top of the first inning, but Wellsboro answered with four runs in the second inning to take a 4-1 advantage.

The Wellsboro lead was short-lived, however, as Athens plated eight runs in the top of the third, then tacked on single runs in the fourth and fifth inning to push its lead to 11-4.

After Wellsboro scored a run in the home half of the fifth to close the gap to 11-5, Athens vanquished any doubts with five runs in the top of the sixth inning.

Connor Robinson homered and singled, scored two runs, and had three RBI, and Grant Campbell singled twice, scored three runs, and had three RBI out of the 9-hole to pace Athens' 8-hit attack.

Wyatt Raupers homered, scored two runs, and drove in two runs in the win, while Parker Collum singled, scored two runs, and knocked in two runs, Tucker Owens doubled, scored one run, and had two RBI, and Landon Briggs singled and scored one run.

Lincoln Miller scored two runs for Athens, while Easton Hubbard had one RBI, and Leo Loziere, Beau Hall and Bentley Stephens each crossed the plate once.

Miller started for Athens, allowing two runs on one hit with one walk and one strikeout in one inning.

Hubbard was credited with the win, allowing two runs on two hits, while walking three and striking out five in two innings.

Robinson earned the save, allowing one run on one hit, while striking out five and walking one in three innings.

Athens will now face the Section 33 champ Friday in the opening game of the Section 3 Tournament
