SECTION 3 LITTLE LEAGUE (11U): MONTOURSVILLE CRUISES PAST ATHENS IN OPENING ROUND OF SECTIONALS (July 14, 2026)

WILLIAMSPORT — Montoursville jumped ahead early and cruised to a three-inning, 17-2, win over Athens here Tuesday in the opening round of the Section 3 Little League 11U playoffs here at the Hepburn-Lycoming Little League complex.

Montoursville scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning, and four more in the second to take an 8-0 lead.

After Athens closed the gap to 8-2 with a pair of runs in the top of the third inning, Montoursville ended the game via the 15-run "mercy" rule with nine runs in the home half of the third.

Jase Blair and Calvin Mosher each singled to account for Athens' two hits, and River Swingle and Maddox Kreider each scored one run.

Athens will return to action Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in an elimination game in the consolation bracket.
