SECTION 3 LITTLE LEAGUE (MINORS): ATHENS DROPS TWO GAMES TO EXIT SECTIONALS (July 19, 2026)

PENNS CREEK — After its opening-round game in the Section 3 Little League Minors Division Baseball playoff game was postponed Saturday, Athens played twice Sunday and was 0-2.

Athens suffered a heart-breaking, 11-10, loss to Keystone in the opening round, then lost 16-1 to Selinsgrove in the first game of the consolation bracket.

Keystone 11, Athens 10
Athens overcame an early deficit to take a four-run lead only to see Keystone rally to force extra innings, and rally again in the seventh inning to pull out an 11-10 win in the opening round of the Section 3 playoffs.

Keystone scored three times in the bottom of the first inning, but Athens answered with two runs in the second inning, and five more runs in the third inning to take a 7-3 lead.

Keystone scored once in the bottom of the fourth, but Athens responded with a run in the top of the fifth to make it 8-4.

Keystone tied the game with four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, and the game remained deadlocked at 8-8 through six innings.

Jett Raupers and Colson Bishop each drove in runs in the top of the seventh inning to put Athens up 10-8, but Keystone, thanks to an error that allowed two runs to score, plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the win.

Bishop singled twice, scored two runs, and had three RBI, while Jett Raupers singled twice, scored one run, and drove in one run, and Jorey Raupers singled twice and scored two runs to pace Athens' eight-hit attack.

Holden Zuckerman singled and had two RBI, and Witten Altieri singled, scored one run, and drove in one run for Athens, while 

Hudson Glielmi scored one run and drove in one run, Reed Swingle scored two runs, and Briley Owens crossed the plate once.

Athens committed six errors that led to eight unearned runs in the loss.

Selinsgrove 16, Athens 1
Selinsgrove jumped ahead quickly and cruised to a 16-1 three-inning win over Athens in a consolation bracket elimination game.

Selinsgrove scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning, then added seven runs in the second to take an 11-1 lead. They brought the 15-run "mercy" rule into play with five runs in the top of the third inning.

Altieri worked a walk and scored Athens' lone run.
