WAVERLY GIRLS BASKETBALL CAMP DRAWS 120 CAMPERS (July 20, 2026)
The Sports ReportsWAVERLY —— The Waverly girls’ basketball camp drew 120 kids last week for their annual weeklong event at Waverly High School.
There were awards handed out for three different age groups, along with team championships in each age group.
In Division III, Hayden Nichols of Waverly won the foul shooting and the three-on-three champions were Brynlee Sharpsteen of Waverly, Crace Hyde of Addison, Charlotte Borra of Odessa and Natalie Foster of Waverly.
Madi Rowello of Waverly was the hot shot champion and Finlay Kanoff of Candor was the one-on-one champion.
Grace Hyde of Addison was the knockout champion and Arya Osman of Waverly was the Hustler Award winner.
Charlotte Borra of Odessa was the most improved and Anellin McWhorter of Troy was the 1/2-camp scholarship winner.
Elana Medcalf of Athens, Sharpsteen, Harper Ayers of Troy, Annie Tremaine of Horseheads and Rowello were all-stars. Hyde was the MVP.
Jessie Sheeley of Troy and Kanoff were the defensive award winners.
Elmira was the team champions with a team coached by Kennedy Westbrook that included Hyde and Nora Stigers and Kallie Wheeler of Odessa, Emberly Fiske and Lennon McGee of Waverly, Osman and Medcalf.
In Division I, the foul shooting champion was Ava Rhodes of Athens and the three-on-three champions were Andenna Musick of Sayre, Kensley Gabriel of Athens and Tulsi DiBoun of Spencer.
The three-point champions were Gabriel and Rhodes and Ceci Hilgendorf of Notre Dame was the hot shot champion. Adrian Jackson of Athens was the one-on-one champion.
Olivia Powers of Athens was the Hustler Award winner and most improved was Harper Middaugh of Owego. Harper Kretzemer of Owego was the 1/2-camp scholarship winner.
The all-stars were Jackson, Foster, Hilgendorf, Sophie Podolinski of Sayre and Andi Rynone of Waverly. Gabriel was the MVP.
Penelope Medcalf of Athens was the defensive team pick with Elisa Senese of Sayre.
The team champions of Penn State were coached by Mike Croft and had a roster of Gabriel, Medcalf, Hailey Cole of Canton, Podolinski, Braelynn Husted of Troy, Sophia Orozco of Towanda and Letti Hicks of Troy.
In the WNBA, the foul shooting champion was Arabella Robbins of Athens and the three-on-three champs were Taylin Gonzalez and Kaylin Twedt of Waverly and Chloe Butcher of Athens.
Kendall Rockwell and Twedt were the three-point champs and Ryleigh Judson of Waverly was the hot shot champ. Kendall Rockwell of Waverly was the one-on-one champion.
Paige Bubniak of Waverly was the Hustler Award winner and Bethy Bishop of Liberty was the most improved. Azlyn Tolbert of Athens was the 1/2-camp scholarship winner.
Twedt, Judson, Kezlynn Dekay of Waverly, Addison Foster of Waverly and Rockwell were the all-stars and Cailyn Vannoy of Canton was the MVP. Kya Lwton of Wellsboro and Makenzie Olmstead of Waverly were the defensive team picks and Olmstead was the best camper. Lydia Roupp of Canton was the dominant post player and Taylor Aquilio of Towanda was the floor-general award winner. Raygane Oakes of Waverly was the three-point specialist.
The NY Liberty team coached by Bill Trump won the team title. The members of the team were Adele Clark of Troy, Kendall Butcher of Athens, Thea Kastenhuber of S-VE, Bubniak, Lucy Proseus of Canton, Aquilio, Twedt and Rockwell.
