NTL FOOTBALL: ATHENS' BRADLEY SEES PLENTY OF POSITIVES AT THREE-TEAM SCRIMMAGE (17 PHOTOS) (August 22, 2026)
By TIM BIRNEYValley Sports ReportATHENS — Athens football coach Shawn Bradley took a lot of positives from his team's three-team football scrimmage against Waverly and Bloomsburg here Saturday at Alumni Stadium.
"It was great that we got these three teams ... good, quality teams here together.
"I thought we played pretty well, there were a lot of positives today, and some thing we need to work on," Bradley said.
The Wildcat defense forced several turnovers on the day.
"Defensively, I thought they played great," said Bradley.
"The defense flew the football," he noted. The assignment alignment was awesome. I thought we played great."
Senior Connor Davidson was victimized by several drops early on, but was on target with his passes, and threw one long TD pass. Sophomore Shea Davidson also completed the majority of his passes, and tossed one TD.
"We had some read issues," said Bradley. "Connor has a cannon of an arm, but he always wants to put it right in there deep, but sometimes that's not always the throw.
"We'll work on that," added Bradley. "Overall, I thought Connor and Shea both threw the ball pretty well."
The Wildcats run game was serviceable, but Connor Davidson did break off a 65-yard TD run.
"Some of that was on me," said Bradley. "When we got basic, it was better ... I think that's gonna open up the run game, especially for Connor."
Bradley summed up the day.
"I am definitely pleased, but it's a scrimmage," he said. "We have Wyalusing coming up next week, and then the big one over at Alparon Park."
Athens opens the season Friday at Wyalusing.
