THE VALLEY — Football begins South of the Border tonight with Sayre hosting Towanda at the Lockhart Street Bowl, and Athens on the road at Wyalusing.

FOOTBALL
Athens at Wyalusing, 7 p.m.: The Wildcats are coming off a 9-2 season, including a 9-1 regular-season, that ended with a loss to Jersey Shore in the District 4, Class 4A semifinals, while the Rams posted a 2-8 season in 2025.

Senior Connor Davidson, who threw for 22 TDs and ran for 11 more, returns at QB for the Wildcats, but he is likely to also see time at tailback and in the slot, with sophomore Shea Davidson likely to see quite a bit of time at QB.

Athens also returns seniors Brendan Cooke and Lucas Persun in the backfield, senior Gage Marmor at wideout, and senior Tony Robbins at tight end.

The Wildcats won last year's game, 56-21.

Towanda at Sayre, 7 p.m.: The Redskins are coming off an 0-10 season, while the Black Knights were 3-7 in 2025.

Sayre returns senior Hudson Malanoski and junior Riley Johnson in the backfield, as well as senior Declan Barry at quarterback, and several members of its offensive line.

Towanda won last year's meeting, 43-14.
