THE VALLEY — The fall season hits high gear as both New York State and Pennsylvania seasons get under way.

There are 33 events on this week's docket, including seven on Wednesday and Thursday, and six each on Tuesday and Friday.

The following are all of the home varsity events this week, and a few of the notable road events:

MONDAY (1)
•  Waverly boys golf plays at the DiNunzio Tournament.

TUESDAY (6)
•  Athens volleyball hosts Troy in its first dual of the season.

•  The Waverly girls open the season hosting Owego.

•  The Tioga girls open the soccer season at home against Marathon.

•  Athens hosts Canton, Towanda, and Troy in the first cross-country meet of the season.

•  Sayre hosts its cross country season, hosting Sullivan County and Wyalusing.

•  Waverly boys golf hosts Johnson City at Shepard Hills.

WEDNESDAY (7)
•  The Waverly girls swim team opens the 2026 season at home against Oneonta.

•  Athens opens its girls soccer season at Northeast Bradford.

•  Waverly volleyball opens the season on the road at Unadilla Valley.

•  The Waverly boys open the soccer season at Owego.

•  Tioga field hockey opens the season at home against Marathon.

•  The Tioga boys open the soccer season at Marathon.

THURSDAY (7)
•  The Athens boys open their season at home against the newly-minted Wyalusing squad.

•  Athens volleyball hosts North Penn-Liberty.

•  Sayre hosts NEB in its first volleyball dual of the season.

•  Waverly volleyball hosts Groton in its first home match of 2026.

FRIDAY (6)
•  Tioga football opens the season with a Week Zero game at Haggerty Field against Delhi.

•  Athens football plays the NTL Large School "Game of the Year" at Troy's Alparon Park.

•  Sayre plays its first football game on the road at South Williamsport.

•  The Tioga boys host Southern Tioga in their first home game of the season.

•  Tioga hosts Owego in the Tioga County Field Hockey Tournament, which also includes Newark Valley, and SVEC.

•  Waverly boys golf hosts Chenango Valley.

SATURDAY (6)
•  Waverly opens the 2026 football season with a Week Zero contest at home against Port Jervis.

•  The Athens girls play a key early-season soccer battle at Troy.

•  Day 2 of the Tioga County Field Hockey Tournament at Tioga.
