STAC BOYS GOLF: WALTER, BENNETT PACE WAVERLY'S EFFORTS AT DINUNZIO TOURNAMENT (August 31, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportENDWELL — Junior Griffin Walter and 8th-grader Silas Bennett paced Waverly's effort here on a rainy Monday at the 2026 Nick DiNunzio Memorial Tournament at En-Joie Golf Course.
"I am proud of how our guys battled today with the rain coming down hard for the final 11 holes," said Waverly coach Marc Felt.
"Griff (Walter) put together a solid 86, and Silas (Bennett) played a really steady round, with just one double-bogey all day.
"It wasn't the team score we were hoping for, but there were a lot of positives to take from a tough day," added Felt.
Maine-Endwell won the team title with a five-player aggregate score of 387, while Vestal was second with a 395, and Horseheads was third with a 402. Waverly finished 15th out of 17 teams with a 460.
Walter, who recorded a pair of birdies, and Bennett each shot rounds of 86 to lead the Wolverines.
Sophomore Trevor Allen carded a 94, including one birdie, whiles enior Daniel Fischer shot a 95, and junior Daniel Brady added a 99.
Sophomore Maddex Presher tacked on a non-scoring round of 106.
Vestal senior Teddy Brosius earned low-medal honors with a 4-under par round of 68, while Norwich junior Matthew Brunick was second with a 1-under 71, and Elmira senior Aidan Ranck was third with a 73.
Waverly returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Johnson City at The Club at Shepard Hills.
