STAC VOLLEYBALL: WAVERLY OPENS SEASON WITH SWEEP OF UNADILLA VALLEY (September 2, 2026)

NEW BERLIN, N.Y. — Waverly opened the season with a sweep of Unadilla Valley here Wednesday night in non-league volleyball action.

The Wolverines won by scores of 25-16, 25-19, and 25-13.

"I’m really proud of how we played," said Waverly coach Hailee Rote. "We are looking to build our confidence going into STAC play on Tuesday and this was a great start."

Meeya Wheeler led Waverly with 18 setter assists, one kill one ace, and two digs, while Ellie Cole recorded five aces and five digs, Addison Foster registered six kills, and Mady Briggs added six aces.

"Freshman Meeya wheeler led the team running a 5-1 spreading out our offense," said Rote.

"Freshman middle-hitter Addison Foster and junior Kendall Rockwell were both aggressive and strong forces at the met. 

"Ava Heath and Mady  Briggs were  strong senior leaders and remained calm and led our team the entire match," added Rote.

The Wolverines play their first home match Thursday when they host Groton.
