STAC GIRLS SWIMMING: ATANASOFF, KELLOGG LEAD WAVERLY TO SEASON-OPENING WIN OVER ONEONTA (10 PHOTOS) (September 2, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY — Sophomore Megan Atanasoff and Aubrey Kellogg both won four events, and sophomore Natalie Steck and Brynna Twedt were triple-winners to lead Waverly to a season-opening, 101-79, win over Oneonta here Wednesday evening in STAC girls swimming action.
Sophomore Ayla Wheeler and seventh-grader Arielle Allison were both double-winners for the Wolverines.
Atanasoff won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 25.27 seconds, and Brynna Twedt was second in a personal-best time 26.42 seconds.
Atanasoff also won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:03.27, and Wheeler placed third in a personal-best time of 1:15.01. Harper Varano also swam a personal-best time of 1:35.59.
Kellogg won the 200-yard freestyle relay in a career-best time of 2:06.18. Her time is third-best in program history, behind only current school record-holder Lindsey Nogash and Mira Kittle.
Kellogg won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 56.62 second, and Steck was second in a personal-best time of 57.79 seconds.
Atanasoff and Kellogg teamed with Arielle Allison and Wheeler to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:49.86.
Atanasoff teamed with Brynna Twedt, Steck, and Wheeler won the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:57.33.
Kellogg teamed with Steck, Brynna Twedt and Allison to win the 400-yard freestyle in a time of 4:14.25.
Brynna Twedt won the 100-yard backstroke in a personal-best time of 1:06.8.
Steck won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:12.44.
Wheeler finished second in the 200-yard IM in a personal-best time of 2:44.0. Harper Varano also swam a personal-best time of 3:15.22.
Izzy Miner finished third in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 7:16.42. Madalyn Draper (8:34.74) and Olive Sharpsteen (9:51.08) each swam personal-bests in the 500 free as well.
Waverly returns to action Sept. 12 when it hosts the Waverly Invitational.
