NTL BOYS SOCCER: ATHENS SCORES EARLY, OFTEN IN 13-0 WIN OVER NEWLY-MINTED RAMS (September 3, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportWYALUSING — Athens scored 30 seconds into the game, and led 5-0 eight minutes in on its way to a season-opening, 13-0, win over Wyalusing here Thursday afternoon in NTL boys soccer action.
It was just the second game for the newly-minted Rams, who are fielding their first team since 2006.
Junior Ben Krissler scored his first three varsity goals, and sophomore Caden Brennan scored two goals and dished out two assists to pace the Wildcats.
Patrick Umber, who gave the Wildcats the early 1-0 lead, scored two goals and had one assist, while sophomore Chase Gombocz scored two goals, and sophomore Rory Smart had one goal and one assist
Senior Zach Blackman scored on a free kick, while freshmen Bryce Gombocz and Ryder Owens added their first varsity goals.
Sophomore Gage Hubbard doled out two assists, while senior Alex Arcesi and junior Hunter Brennan each had one assist.
Athens had a 24-0 advantage in shots-on-goal, and an 8-0 edge in corner kicks.
Athens returns to action Saturday morning at North Penn-Liberty.
