NTL VOLLEYBALL: SAYRE OVERCOMES 'FIRST-GAME JITTERS;' BEATS NEB, 3-1, IN SEASON-OPENER (24 PHOTOS) (September 3, 2026)

SAYRE — Sayre dropped the first set, but re-grouped quickly on its way to a season-opening, 3-1, win over Northeast Bradford here Thursday night in NTL volleyball action.

The Panthers won the first set 25-21, but the Redskins bounced back with 25-5 and 25-15 wins, before closing out the match with a 25-21 winning the fourth set.

"It was a big match for us tonight," said Sayre coach Colby Sangrey. "I’m glad we got the first-set jitters out and turned it around. 

"Northeast (Bradford) came out and challenged us right away, so we made a few adjustments and cleaned up our game," he noted. 

"We were smart and aggressive with serves and found some great runs. 

"We’re still working on some things offensively, but being able to play against a solid defense gives us some options to think about," added Sangrey.
