Valley Sports ReportTIOGA CENTER — Sidney scored two goals in a three-minute span in the second quarter on its way to a 4-0 win over Tioga here Tuesday afternoon in Section IV field hockey action.
"We played well, we just struggled on free hits," said Tioga coach Aubrey Worthing. "And, Sidney did a good job defending our free hits.
"We are going to work on making those corrections tomorrow for the next game," she noted. "It’s also the basics we need to continue to master — passing and receiving."
Onaka Stanton-Helms scored with 9:23 remaining in the fist quarter, and Ashlynn Curtin scored three minutes later to make it 2-0.
Erin Neubert and Ayla Crowell scored goals in the third quarter to provide the final margin.
Sidney had a 6-0 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 6-3 edge in penalty corners.
Vangie Decker and Paige Fenton each recorded one save in net for the Tigers.
Tioga, now 2-2, returns to action Thursday at Deposit-Hancock.
