IAC GIRLS SOCCER: THREE TIOGA PLAYERS NET HAT TRICKS IN 10-1 WIN OVER NEWARK VALLEY (September 8, 2026)

NEWARK VALLEY — Three different Tioga players netted hat trick in a 10-1 rout of Newark Valley here Tuesday afternoon in IAC girls soccer action.

Sophomores Grace Howey, who also had one assist, and Natalie Kemp and 8th-grader varsity newcomer Mary VanDusen scored three goals apiece in Tioga's win.

Serenity Relyea added a goal for the Tigers, while Skylar Jankowski and Addison Landmesser each had one assist.

"After scoring just one goal in our first two games the girls opened the flood gates with an unprecedented three hat tricks," said Tioga coach Jim Walsh. "I’ve never seen that happen before.

"All the girls got multiple touches, which was good to see.

"It's a great win and a much-needed win," added Walsh. "After our two opening-week losses, the girls were a little downcast."

VanDusen scored her first varsity goal a little more than five minutes into the contest, and Howey scored less than a minute later to make it 2-0 with 33:45 left in the first half.

Howey scored about 9 1/2 minutes later to extend the lead to 3-0, and Kemp and Relyea scored in a four-minute span to make it 5-0 with 13:05 remaining in the first half.

Kemp scored twice, sandwiched around a goal by Howey, to push the advantage to 8-1.

VanDusen scored the final two goals of the game to complete her hat trick.

Tioga had a 37-10 advantage in shots-on-goal.

Marcy Moniz had nine saves in net for the Tigers.
