IAC BOYS SOCCER: NEWFIELD HOLDS OFF TIOGA, 2-1 (14 PHOTOS)(September 9, 2026) Valley Sports Report NEWFIELD — Tioga scored early in the second quarter to pull within one goal, but Newfield's defense preserved the 2-1 lead over the final 37-plus minutes to hold on for the win here Wednesday night in IAC boys soccer action at Haggerty Field.
"We really came out strong and moved the ball and communicated very well in the first minutes of the game," said Tioga coach Donnie Van Dusen.
"As soon as we got tired, the passing and communication went with it," he added. "I think game shape is something we have to over come; that will be the focus (Thursday) as it has been up to this point."
Newfield scored a pair of goals late in the first half to take a 2-0 lead into the halftime intermission.
Junior Drayke Ulrich scored with 37:42 remaining the contest to close the gap to 2-1.
Newfield had a 13-6 edge in corner kicks.
David Van Dusen had six saves in net for the Tigers.
Tioga, now 0-3, returns to action Friday at Newark Valley.
