WHITNEY POINT — Five-time defending state champion Whitney Point scored three first-quarter goals and rolled to a 7-0 win over Tioga here Tuesday afternoon in Section IV field hockey action.

Whitney Point, which has won 10 of the last 11 Class C state champions, led 3-0 after the opening stanza on goals by Ava Oliver, Anah Huston, and Ava Vuille.

Addison Feathers scored twice in a 22-second span late in the first half to give the Eagles a 5-0 lead at the intermission.

Payton Martin and Feathers completed the scoring in the third quarter.

Point had a 17-0 advantage in shots-on-goal, and an 8-0 edge in penalty corners.

Paige Fenton recorded five saves in the cage for the Tigers, and Vangie Decker had four.

Tioga, now 2-4, will host Vestal Thursday at 5 p.m.
