IAC GIRLS SOCCER: MONIZ, KEMP, HOWEY POWER TIOGA IN 2-1 WIN OVER O-M (18 PHOTOS) (September 17, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportTIOGA CENTER — Natalie Kemp scored midway through the second half, and Tioga's defense, anchored by senior keeper Marcy Moniz made it stand up in a 2-1 win over Odessa-Montour here Thursday night in IAC Small School girls soccer action at Haggerty Field.
"The game ball selection tonight is easy," said Tioga coach Jim Walsh. "Senior and captain goalkeeper Marcy Moniz .. she was moving and reacting so well tonight, great hands, great decisions — just top notch goaltending."
Walsh said there were other major contributors as well.
"(Grace) Howey, (Natalie) Kemp, and (Mary) van Dusen had some good combination play tonight," he said. "I'm hoping to develop that further as the season progresses.
"And, senior Serenity Relyea, our utility player, really helped out tonight wherever she was on the pitch," added Walsh.
Howey scored an unassisted goal about 10 1/2 minutes into the contest, and the scored remained 1-0 at the halftime intermission.
O-M standout Leah Antes tied the game at 1-1 just two minutes into the second half, and it remained tied for more than 13 1/2 minutes.
With 24:16 remaining in the contest, Kemp, off a feed from Howey, scored the game-winner.
O-M had a 16-7 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
Moniz recorded 15 saves in net for the Tigers.
Tioga, now 3-2, returns to action Saturday morning when it hosts Groton.
