NTL FOOTBALL: SAYRE LETS LEAD SLIP AWAY; RALLIES FOR 23-21 WIN OVER NORTH PENN TO SNAP 17-GAME LOSING STREAK (16 PHOTOS) (September 18, 2026)

MANSFIELD — Sayre let a 17-0 halftime lead slip away, but senior Hudson Malanoski's late TD lifted Sayre to its first win since 2024 — a 23-21 victory over North Penn-Mansfield here Friday night in NTL football action.

The win not only snapped the Redskins' 17-game losing streak, but was the first for first-year coach Guy Kapichok.

Malanoski scored on a 2-yard TD run midway through the first quarter to give the Redskins a 7-0 lead.

Sayre added a TD early in the second quarter, and a field goal as the first half expired to take a 17-0 lead into the intermission.

The Tigers scored on a 24-yard run by Bridger Lehman early in the third quarter, then closed the gap to 17-14 on a 33-yard run by Jeremiah Lawrence with 5:35 remaining in the third quarter.

Peyton Greene's 5-yard TD pass to Lehman with 11:14 remaining in the contest game NP-M its first lead of the game, and Conner Lewis' third PAT kick made it 21-17.

Malanoski scored on a short run with 2:33 left in the game to give Sayre a 23-21 lead, and the subsequent PAT kick was blocked.

Sayre, now 1-3, returns to action Thursday at Wyalusing.
