VALLEY SPORTS REPORT: WAVERLY'S CHRYSTIE, ATHENS' HICKS, TIOGA'S MONIZ NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION 'ATHLETES OF THE WEEK' (September 21, 2026)

THE VALLEY — Waverly sophomore Cooper Chrystie accounted for five TDs, Athens senior Eli Hicks shot two sub-par rounds, and Tioga senior Marcy Moniz had three strong games in net. They are the VSR / Bishop Brothers Construction "Athletes of the Week," for the week ending Sept. 19.

Cooper Chrystie completed 20 of 30 passes for 246 yards, and two TDs, and also led the Wolverine ground game with 117 yards and three TDs on 21 carries. He also ran for a two-point conversion.

His TD passes were for 24 and 7 yards to his twin brother, sophomore Carter Chrystie. His TD runs were for 3, 1, and 3 yards.

Hicks fired a 2-under 35 to lead Athens to wins over Canton and CV on Monday at Shepard Hills.

He duplicated the feat Thursday, shooting a 35 at Shepard Hills as Athens handed Wyalusing its first loss since 2024.

TIOGA'S MONIZ NAMED BISHOP BROTHERS CONSTRUCTION GIRLS "ATHLETES OF THE WEEK"
Moniz recorded 32 saves in three games, helping Tioga to a 2-1 record.

Moniz had nine saves in Tioga's 3-2 win over Dryden Tuesday, then registered 15 saves in a 2-1 win over O-M Thursday.

She had eight saves in a 1-0 loss to Groton Friday.
