NTL CROSS COUNTRY: ATHENS BOYS, GIRLS DROP CLOSE DECISIONS AT WELLSBORO (20 PHOTOS) (September 22, 2026)

WELLSBORO — Athens, led by senior Jacob Shores, claimed three of the top four spots in the boys race, but Wellsboro had six of the top-10 finishers to pull out a one-point win here Tuesday in NTL boys cross country action, while the Lady Hornets topped the Wildcats by three points.

BOYS
Wellsboro 28, Athens 29
Shore won the boys race in a time of 20.17, while senior Matt Rossettie placed third in 20:34, and senior Corbin Smith was fourth in 21:37.

Junior Alexander Stedge was 10th in 24:21, and sophomore Micah Simwale was 11th in 24:21.1, while freshman Austin Nason was 13th in 25:22, and freshman Gabe Sensenig was 15th in 25:38.

GIRLS
Wellsboro 26, Athens 29
Junior Alissa Vough finished second in the girls race in a time of 25:39, while freshman Paisley Smith was fourth in 28:25, and sophomore Adaline Burnett was sixth in 30:04.

Junior Tatyana Nasser (31:43) and sophomore Katyayini Kinthala (32:00) finished eighth and ninth, respectively, for the Wildcats,and senior Haylie Horton was 11th in 33:32.

Athens returns to action Friday night at the Owego Night Invite.
