NTL GIRLS SOCCER: ATHENS DROP 2-1 DECISION TO NON-LEAGUE FOE DELAWARE VALLEY (19 PHOTOS)(September 23, 2026) Valley Sports Report ATHENS — Athens scored early, but Delaware Valley took the lead by halftime on its way to a 2-1 win here Tuesday afternoon in non-league girls soccer at Alumni Stadium.
A little more than three minutes into the game senior Delanie Patton slid a pass through the middle of the Delaware Valley defense, and freshman Everleigh Waring drove it into the net to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.
About 14 1/2 minibus later, Delaware Valley's Brooke Nelson tied the game up with a penalty kick.
Cassidy Shallo gave the Warriors a 2-1 lead with 16:50 remaining in the first half.
Delaware Valley had an 18-10 advantage in shots-on-goal, while both teams had three corner kicks.
Sophomore Annika Lezak recorded six saves in net for the Wildcats.
Athens returns to action Saturday at Liverpool.
