SECTION IV FIELD HOCKEY: ROOT POWERS SVEC IN 4-0 WIN OVER TIOGA (18 PHOTOS)(September 22, 2026) Valley Sports Report SPENCER — Kaidince Root netted a hat trick to lead SVEC to a 4-0 win over Tioga here Tuesday afternoon in Section IV, Division III field hockey action.
"We have to continue to remember we are a young team and growing with each game," said Tioga coach Aubrey Worthing.
"We had some really great passes and connections between our forwards but couldn't capitalize on them.
"Our defensive corners were a downfall for us today," added Worthing. "Most of the goals were scored that way."
Kendall Gentile put SVEC on the board midway through the first quarter to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.
Root scored twice in less than three minutes in the second quarter to give SVEC a 3-0 lead with 9:23 remaining in the first half. The Eagles maintained the lead into the halftime intermission.
Root completed her hat trick with 7:41 remaining in the third quarter to provide the final margin.
SVEC had a 13-0 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 9-0 edge in penalty corners.
Paige Fenton recorded five saves in the cage for the Tigers, and Vangie Decker added four saves.
Tioga, now 2-6, returns to action Thursday at Haggerty Field.
