MORAVIA — Tioga scored late, but it wasn't quite enough in a 2-1 loss to Moravia here Tuesday afternoon in IAC Small School crossover boys soccer action.

"It was a very back-and-forth game," said Tioga coach Donnie VanDusen. "We had a lot of great runs, just couldn’t seem to find the net tonight.

"I thought we had some great give-and-goes and found multiple people through the defense," he noted. "In the end, we couldn’t come through. 

"I saw some great fight from the boys at the end of the game to really put the pressure on just cane up short," said VanDusen. "That was my message to the team at the end we need that fight we had the last 10 minutes all game.

"Overall though, I am proud of the movement I saw and I think the conditioning is better, but still not quite where we need it," he added.

Moravia scored last in the first half and took a 1-0 lead into the halftime intermission.

The Blue Devils added an insurance goal with 9:49 remaining in the contest, and it turned out they would need it.

Collin Wilson put the Tigers on the board with 2:59 remaining to close the gap to 2-1.

Tioga had a 14-13 edge in shots-on-goal, and a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.

David van Dusen recorded 12 saves in net for the Tigers.

Tioga returns to action Thursday at SVEC.
