SECTION IV FIELD HOCKEY: MAINE-ENDWELL CAPITALIZES ON PENALTY CORNERS IN 7-0 WIN OVER TIOGA (18 PHOTOS) (September 24, 2026)

TIOGA CENTER — Maine-Endwell scored six of its seven goals off penalty corners in a 7-0 win over Tioga here Thursday in Section IV field hockey action at Haggerty Field.

"We continue to struggle defensively inside our circle," said assistant coach Miranda Szymanski. "We did make some player adjustments on our defensive corners today, but some more adjustments are needed. 

"We have three practices before our next game, which will allow more time to work on our defensive corners and our positioning inside the circle. 

"M-E is a great team and we started out great against them," noted Szymanski. "We were making some great connections and we were moving the ball into their end. 

"Vangie (Decker) had some really great saves in goal. She has been working on getting more comfortable with diving and she showed us that today. 

"We are halfway through the season and hope to make the needed adjustments and win some more games the second half of the season," added Szymanski.

Lizzie Maruski scored with 46 seconds remaining in the first quarter break a scoreless tie, and Ally Faler made it 2-0 with no time on the clock in the opening stanza.

Maruski ended up with three goals, and Leah Josey scored two goals and dished out two assists, while Brooke Williams tallied three assists.

Tioga, now 2-7, returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Moravia.
