Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY — Waverly top Owego 4-3 to win its season-opener Wednesday in STAC modified boys soccer action on the high school field.
Cameron Shaw scored two goals, including the game-winner, while Isaac Soper and Blake Bentley each scored one goal.
Bentley Chandler assisted on two goals for the Wolverines in the win, and Ben Bishop had one assist.
Luke Malvica recorded four saves in net for Waverly.
Max Schrader scored all three goals for Owego.
The Wolverines trailed 1-0 after three quarters in a 5-0 loss to Corning Friday.
Waverly returns to action Wednesday at Ithaca.
