IAC GIRLS SOCCER: HOWEY'S FOUR GOALS LEADS TIOGA IN 8-0 WIN OVER NEWFIELD (October 2, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportNEWFIELD — Sophomore Grace Howey scored four first-half goals to lead Tioga to an 8-0 win over Newfield here Friday afternoon in IAC South Small School girls soccer action.
Howey finished the game with four goals and one assist, and Natalie Kemp added a pair of first-half goals and one assist to help the Tigers to a 6-0 lead.
Addy Landmesser, off a Mary VanDusen feed, and Serenity Relyea added second-half goals for the Tigers.
"It was a nice bounce-back win from our heavy loss to Watkins Glen on Monday," said interim Tioga coach Jim Walsh. "It was a full team effort, with good, positive communication all around.
"Newfield had a few solid shots-on-goal, but once again senior Marcy Moniz held firm to post the shutout," noted Walsh.
"Because of our big lead ... we were able to really work on quality distribution of the ball throughout the second half," added Walsh. "That will be important as we head into Tuesday night's key matchup against Odessa-Montour, a game which could determine the IAC Small School South division winner."
Tioga had a 22-9 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
Senior Marcy Moniz recorded eight saves in net for the Tigers.
