STAC GIRLS SOCCER: WAVERLY, SETON CATHOLIC PLAY TO 1-1 DRAW (October 6, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportBINGHAMTON — Junior Maci Wheeler connected from long distance to help Waverly salvage a 1-1 tie against Seton Catholic here Tuesday night in STAC Central Division girls soccer action.
"This was a fun game," said Waverly coach Tara Hogan. "With Seton's field being as small as it is, it always tends to throw us for a loop. We're used to using our space and spreading teams out.
"With this game site, we are forced to work quicker, and it makes for an overall quicker game," she noted. "We faced the same issue we always do when we go there — pacing our passes."
Olivia Hooker scored the game's first goal with 19:04 remaining in the contest to give the Saints a 1-0 lead.
Wheeler's shot from well outside the 18 with 8:14 remaining was initially stopped, but the keeper mishandled it, and the ball cross the goal line for the 1-1 tie.
"Kaylin Twedt had some decent opportunities, and Lily Schoonover had some great passes across the goal," said Hogan.
"Sophia Dorsey continues to wow us on defense, and Carson LaFrance had some decent time in (goal) tonight and held her own.
"Newcomers Skylar Rose and Natalia Gorton also did well tonight as outside-mids," added Hogan.
Waverly had a 12-6 advantage in shots-on-goal and a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.
