FOOTBALL
Waverly at Johnson City, 6 p.m.: The Wolverines are coming off a 49-14 divisional win over Norwich, while the Wildcats topped Chenango Valley, 36-27.
After a brutal four-game stretch — Port Jervis, M-E, Owego and Horseheads — to start the season, Waverly should be ready for the 5-0 Wildcats, whose last two wins were over Ithaca and Chenango Valley.
The only common opponents was Owego. Johnson City beat the River Hawks, 31-28, at Owego, while the Wolverines lost at home, 35-34.
North Penn-Mansfield at Athens, 7 p.m.: The Wildcats are coming off a 44-0 win over Wellsboro, while the Tigers dropped a 48-12 decision to Troy.
Athens' only los was a 31-21 setback at Troy. In its other five games, the Wildcats have outscored their opponents by an average of 40.4 to 8.2.
NP-M has given up an average of 43 points per game, while scoring 15 points per game — half of those against second- or third-team defenses late in games.
Montgomery at Sayre, 7 p.m.: The Redskins are coming off a 20-7 loss to Canton, while the Red Raiders crushed Wyalusing, 73-0.
Sayre was competitive in its last three games, but now started a stretch in which three of its next four opponents (Montgomery, Troy and Athens) have just one loss.
