BOYS SOCCER: O-M STINGS WAVERLY, 2-1 (October 14, 2026)
Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY — Waverly scored a pair of own-goals in a 2-1 loss to Odessa-Montour here Wednesday night in non-league boys soccer action at Memorial Stadium.
"Tonight was a tough loss," said Waverly coach Jon Rankin. "It was a tight match the entire way, and we had two own goals, which adds a sting to the loss.
"Unfortunately, we were caught offsides several times tonight that could’ve led to scoring opportunities," he noted. "O-M held a very strong line and our forwards had a hard time finding themselves on the right side of it.
"It’s not how we wanted our Senior Night to go," added Rankin. "However, the boys showed up for their upperclassmen and continued to battle in a very physical game."
O-M led 1-0 when Waverly Cohen Kraft knotted the score at 1-1 with a goal late in the first half "on a beautiful through ball."
O-M got the game-winner about 8 1/2 minutes into the second half.
Waverly had a 9-5 edge in shots-on-goal, while O-M Had a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
James Cole had five saves in net for the Wolverines.
Waverly, now 3-12, hosts Tioga next Wednesday.
