NTL FOOTBALL: SAYRE STRIKES FIRST, BUT TROY ROLLS IN 55-12 WIN (10 PHOTOS) (October 16, 2026)
By CHRIS MANNINGValley Sports ReportSAYRE — Sayre struck first, but then saw Troy scored 55 straight points as the Redskins fell 55-12 during NTL football action Friday.
Brayden Northrup returned a pick-six 60 yard just over two minutes into the game to put Sayre up 6-0, but by the end of the first quarter it was 21-6, and at the half Troy led 42-6, ensuring a mercy rule second half.
Hudson Malanoski was a workhorse for Sayre, running for 143 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries, while Riley Johnson had five carries for 27 yards in the second half.
Troy shared the ball, like they normally do, with 10 different ball carriers.
Jayden Kutt (eight carries, 85 yards, two touchdowns) and Evan Allen (three carries, 45 yards, two touchdowns) led the way. Reed Palmer, and Landon Cole also had touchdown runs.
Spencer Martin was 2-for-7 for 58 yards with a 22-yard touchdown pass to Trey Teribury.
Sayre got the opening kick-off but went 3-and-out. Troy's first possession saw them get to third-and-5 at the 45 when Northrup snatched the Martin pass out of the air, then outraced the Trojans down the left side of the sideline to pay dirt.
The point after was no good, but Sayre led 6-0 with 9:50 on the clock.
That seemed to wake up the Trojans, who went on to score on their next six possessions.
The first was a 27-yard Evan Allen run, followed by a 1-yard Kutt run. The Trojans got the 2-point conversion for a 14-6 lead.
Palmer then took a hand-off 44 yards to pay dirt for a 21-6 score at the first horn.
Early in the second, Allen had a 2-yard scoring run, followed by a 5-yard touchdown run from Kutt.
For the final touchdown of the first half, Martin hit Teribury on a jump ball for the 22-yard scoring strike and the 42-6 halftime lead.
Troy's Josiah Pesesky took the opening kick-off 70 yards to the end zone for a 48-6 lead.
The final Troy touchdown came when Landon Cole scampered 10 yards to pay dirt to make it 55-6.
The ensuing Sayre drive saw the Redskins pound their way 73-yards to the end zone. It took them nine plays, seven of them Malanoski runs as he pounded out 65 yards, ending with a 1-yard punch on second-and-goal.
The kick was blocked but the score made it a 55-12 final.
Both teams threatened after that, but neither were able to get into the end zone.
Sayre will host Cowanesque Valley for Homecoming next weekend.
