FROM THE PRESS BOX: POSTSEASON PICKS — COULD ALL THREE VALLEY TEAMS ADVANCE? (November 6, 2026)

The postseason — or Week 11 — is upon us, so now every game is a must-win, with Waverly and Athens hosting opening-round games, and Tioga in action on a neutral field in its semi-final match-up.

The Wolverines host Susquehanna Valley, and the Wildcats host Loyalsock Friday night, while Tioga squares off with Schuyler at Chenango Valley Saturday night.

Last week was another very good week for the VSR Pigskin Prognostictors. I was 9-0 I was 9-0, while the other four pigskin pickers were 8-1.

On the season, Little Red continues to lead the way at 89-14, while The Mick and I are 88-15, Country Bob is 86-17, and Madden & Summerall is 79-24.

Without further ado, let's see what VSR's Pigskin Prognosticators foresee in Week 11:

Susquehanna Valley (6-3) at Waverly (7-2): The Wolverines are coming off a division-clinching, 48-6, win at Oneonta, while the Sabers dropped a 28-22 decision at home to Owego.

Waverly has won six in a row, outscoring its foes by an average of 48.6 to 15 in that stretch, while SV has lost its last two.

Top-seeded Chenango Forks, the state's top-ranked Class C team, has outscored its opponents by an average of 38-7. One of its closest games was a 20-0 win over SV. ... Both teams lost to Owego, with Waverly dropping a wild 35-34 contest.

Prediction: This looks to be a close game, and possibly a low-scoring one. I like Waverly's big-play potential to make the difference. ... WAVERLY 20, S.VALLEY 13.
The Mick:
Waverly 24, SV 13. ... Country Bob: Waverly 35, SV 7. ... Little Red: Waverly 21, SV 7. ... Madden & Summerall: Waverly 21, SV 20.

Loyalsock (4-6) at Athens (9-1): The Wildcats are coming off a 70-12 win over Sayre, while the Lancers dropped a 49-14 decision at Montoursville.

Athens has won eight in a row since a Week 2 loss at Troy, while Loyalsock has lost three in a row, and five of six. Three of of Loyalsock's losses came to Bloomsburg (10-0 by a score of 28-21), Shikellamy (9-1 by a score of 42-10), and Mifflinburg (8-2 by score of 32-27).

Prediction: Don't be deceived by Loyalsock's 4-6 record, it came against a very difficult schedule. During the Wildcats' current win streak, they've only beaten two teams with winning records — Class A Muncy and Class AA South Williamsport. ... LOYALSOCK 27, ATHENS 24.
The Mick:
Athens 14, Loyalsock 13. ... Country Bob: Loyalsock 21, Athens 13. ... Little Red: Athens 35, Loyalsock 34. ... Madden & Summerall: Athens 40, Loyalsock 20.

Schuyler (7-2) vs. Tioga (7-2): The Tigers are coming off a 44-14 win over Trumansburg in the Section IV, Class D quarterfinals, while the Storm rolled to a 33-6 win over Newark Valley.

Tioga has won seven in a row by an average score of 42.4 to 17, including a 43-12 win over Schuyler in Week 6. Schuyler has scored 30 or more points in five of its last six games, the exception being the home loss to Tioga.

Prediction: The Storm had no answers for Tioga's ground game in their first match-up with the Tigers dominating in the trenches ... adjustments only go so far. I expect this to be a little closer than the first time around, but ... TIOGA 36, SCHUYLER 22.
The Mick:
Tioga 36, Schuyler 16. ... Country Bob: Tioga 42, Schuyler 13. ... Little Red: Tioga 42, Schuyler 14. Madden & Summerall: Tioga 45, Schuyler 20.

Johnson City (7-2) vs. Owego (4-5): The River Hawks are coming off a 28-22 win at Susquehanna Valley, while the Wildcats won 29-22 at Windsor.

Prediction: JC edged Owego, 31-28, in week 2, and gave M-E all it wanted in Week 8. ... Owego beat Waverly, 35-34, while JC dropped a 33-22 decision to the Wolverines. ... OWEGO 27, JC 22.
The Mick:
Owego 34, JC 27. ... Country Bob: Owego 21, JC 20. ... Little Red: JC 21, Owego 20. ... Madden & Summerall: JC 35, Owego 12.

Towanda (5-5) at Southern Columbia (9-1):
The Black Knights are coming off a 50-0 win over Wyalusing, while the Tigers topped Selinsgrove, 49-19.

Prediction: Southern Columbia's only defeat was a 27-26 loss to unbeaten Mount Carmel. Towanda's five wins come against teams with a combined nine wins. ... SOUTHERN 56, TOWANDA 0.
The Mick:
Southern 56, Towanda 0. ... Country Bob: Southern 42, Towanda 6. ... Little Red: Southern 48, Towanda 0. ... Madden & Summerall: Southern 70, Towanda 0.

Wellsboro (4-6) at Mount Carmel (10-0): The Hornets are coming off a 41-0 win over North Penn-Mansfield, while the Red Tornadoes topped Shamokin, 23-7.

Prediction: Wellsboro's four wins come against teams with a combined eight wins. ... MOUNT CARMEL 52, WELLSBORO 0.
The Mick:
Mount Carmel 56, Wellsboro 0. ... Country Bob: Mount Carmel 42, Wellsboro 6. ... Little Red: Mount Carmel 56, Wellsboro 0. ... Madden & Summerall: Mount Carmel 45, Wellsboro 7.

Hughesville (4-6) at Troy (9-1): The Trojans are coming off a 74-13 win over Canton, while the Spartans dropped a 31-13 decision to Muncy.

Prediction: Troy isn't quite what they have been in recent years, but should have more than enough tonight. ... TROY 34, HUGHESVILLE 13.
The Mick:
Troy 28, Hughesville 0. ... Country Bob: Troy 28, Hughesville 7. ... Little Red: Troy 28, Hughesville 7. ... Madden & Summerall: Troy 52, Hughesville 12.

Warrior Run (4-6) at South Williamsport (8-2): The Mounties are coming off a 49-14 win at Central Columbia, while the Defenders edged Milton, 13-12, to snap a six-game losing streak.

Prediction: South Williamsport's two losses came against 9-1 teams. ... SOUTH 28, WARRIOR RUN 20.
The Mick:
South 30, Warrior Run 14. ... Country Bob: South 28, Warrior Run 13. ... Little Red: South 45, Warrior Run 14. ... Madden & Summerall: South 35, Warrior Run 14.

Northwest Area (4-6) at Canton (4-6): The Warriors are coming off a 74-13 loss to Troy, while the Rangers dropped a 54-13 decision at unbeaten Bloomsburg.

Prediction: Both teams limped to the regular-season finish line with Canton losing its last four, and Northwest its last six, but the Rangers were a bit more competitive. ... NORTHWEST 26, CANTON 22.
The Mick:
Northwest 21, Canton 20. ... Country Bob: Canton 21, Northwest 14. ... Little Red: Northwest 28, Canton 7. ... Madden & Summerall: Northwest 26, Canton 21.
