COLLEGE SPORTS: 95 VALLEY ATHLETES READY TO PLAY AT THE NEXT LEVEL IN 2024-25; WE MISSING ANYONE? (2024-07-29)
Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY — While the high school sports season here opens up a little less than four weeks, many Valley grads will be in action at the next level in about two weeks.
Valley Sports Report tries to keep track of all of the Valley grads competing at the next level, but keeping track of all of them is not an easy task.
VSR currently has 95 student-athletes in its database who competing at the collegiate level, as well as four Valley grads who are coaching.

The list is pretty impressive. It includes 14 student-athletes competing at the Division I level — Sayre grad Brayden Horton (baseball at Oklahoma), Waverly grads Gabby Picco (soccer at LaSalle), and Kennedy Westbrook (soccer at NJIT), Athens grads Emma Roe (soccer at Wagner), Hannah Walker (soccer at St. Bonaventure), Emma Bronson (track & field at Bucknell), and Kaden Setzer (wrestling at Kent State), and Tioga grads John Worthing and Brady Worthing (both wrestling at Clarion).
The list also includes a handful of student-athletes ready to make their D-I collegiate debuts in 2024-25: Waverly grad Joey Tomasso (football at William & Mary), and Tioga grads Caden Bellis (wrestling at Penn), Ousmane Duncanson (wrestling at Lock Haven), Deakon Bailey (wrestling at Binghamton), and Gianni Silvestri (wrestling at Clarion).
The list also includes 15 football players ready to return to the gridiron this fall, including Tioga grad Cole Williams, who returns for his senior season at Morrisville and a number of freshman looking to make an impact: Waverly grad Jay Pipher (Brockport), and Tioga grads Valentino Rossi (Brockport), Cam Rought (Utica), Gavin Fisher (Utica), and Karson Sindoni (Ithaca), as well as a few sophomore looking to make an impact as well: Athens grad Mason Lister (St. John Fisher), and Waverly’s Isaiah Bretz (St. John Fisher), and Nate DeLill (St. John Fisher).
There are also nine soccer players, including the four D-I players previously mentioned, ready to hit the pitch this fall, including Athens grads Abby Sindoni (senior at Roberts Wesleyan), Hannah Blackman (senior at Millersville), and Ally Thoman (sophomore at Brockport).
The list also includes 15 wrestlers — 12 men and three women. Aside form the seven aforementioned D-I grapplers, Athens grad Gavin Bradley (Castleton) will be looking for a return trip to Nationals this winter, while Tioga grads Tyler Roe (Stevens Institute), and Drew Macumber (Cortland) will look to make a mark on their new programs.
Tioga grad Emily Sindoni has transferred from D’Youville to Elmira College, and will look to make a deep postseason run, while another highly-decorate high schooler, Waverly grad Mackenzie LaForest will look to make an impact at D’Youville.
