Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY — Day 1 of the New York State, Division 2 Wrestling Championships, and PIAA Northeast Regional Wrestling Championships headline a busy Friday of action for Valley athletes.

BOYS WRESTLING
New York State, Division 2 Championships, 10 a.m. @ MVP Arena, Albany:
Tioga will have seven wrestlers in action, while Waverly will have five.

Northeast Reg. Class AAA Championships, 5 p.m. @ Bethlehem-Liberty H.S.: Athens will have six wrestlers, including senior Ryan Howard, who was called up as an alternate, in action vying for one of the top five spots on the podium and trip to Hersey.

Northeast Reg. Class AA Championships, 5 p.m. @ Williamsport H.S.: Junior Jordan Brown is on the only Sayre wrestler in action and vying for a berth at the PIAA Class AA Championships.


BOYS BOWLING
Section IV State Qualifier, 9 a.m. @ VBC, Waverly:
Waverly will vie for a berth at the Division 2 state championship tournament, while Tioga will have individuals in action.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Section IV Playoffs
Class A Quarterfinals
Waverly (8-12) at Owego (12-7), 6 p.m.:
The Wolverines dropped its season-finale, 53-51, to Elmira, while the River Hawks topped Vestal, 55-46.

Waverly beat Owego at home, 54-35, but Owego defended its home court with a 37-36 win three weeks later.
