THE VALLEY — The Athens boys begin its postseason wrestling season Friday evening at the District 4 Championships, while the Wildcat boys hoop team opens play in the District 11 playoffs. There is also bowling and indoor track & field postseason action in Section IV.

BOYS BASKETBALL
District 11 Playoffs
Class 5A Quarterfinals
5-Athens (15-9) vs. 4-Southern Lehigh (14-9), 6 p.m. @ Blue Mountain H.S.: The Wildcats are coming off a 53-42 loss to Towanda in the finals of the NTL Showdown, while the Spartans dropped a 75-56 decision to Catasauqua.

Athens has won five of its last seven, while Southern Lehigh has lost four of its last five.

BOYS WRESTLING
Sayre at District 4, Class AA Championships, 5 p.m. @ Williamsport H.S.: Junior Jordan Brown will represent the Redskins in the 172-pound weight class.

Section IV Championships, 3 p.m. @ Midway Lanes, Vestal: Waverly and Tioga will compete.

WINTER TRACK & FIELD
Section IV State Qualifier, 4:30 p.m. @ Ithaca College: Waverly and Tioga's Gavin Albrecht will be in action.
